Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with olive oil.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, add ground beef, and brown for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Sauté diced onion and minced garlic in the same skillet for 3-4 minutes until onion is translucent.
  4. Layer the browned beef mixture in the greased baking dish, followed by overlapping sliced potatoes. Season layers with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top, pour beef broth around the edges, and drizzle with milk if using.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until tender and bubbling.
  7. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve hot.
