Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a skillet over medium heat, add sliced yellow onions, sauté for about 8 minutes until golden brown, then set aside.
  2. Add another 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet, place cold slices of leftover meatloaf, and cook for about 3 minutes on each side until browned and heated through.
  3. Butter one side of each slice of bakery white bread, place in the skillet butter-side down, toast for about 3 minutes until golden, adding cheese on top to melt.
  4. Assemble the sandwich by layering seared meatloaf, sautéed onions, and a spoonful of sauce between the slices of toasted bread. Press down gently and serve warm.
