Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking dish with unsalted butter.
  2. In a medium skillet, melt 2 oz of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced cabbage and sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, turnips, sautéed cabbage, remaining butter, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly in the baking dish and sprinkle 1 oz of cheddar cheese on top.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes until browned.
  6. Let it rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
