For the Meat Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 pound Ground Beef Provides a rich and hearty flavor
  • 1/2 pound Italian Sausage Adds depth and spice
  • 1 medium Onion Finely diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 28 ounces Crushed Tomatoes
  • 15 ounces Tomato Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste

  • 2 teaspoons Dried Basil

  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
For the Noodles
  • 12 pieces Lasagna Noodles Cook until al dente

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and Italian sausage, cooking until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Stir in diced onion and minced garlic; sauté until the onion is translucent.
  3. Mix in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. Season with salt, black pepper, dried basil, and oregano.
  4. Simmer the sauce for 25-30 minutes until it thickens.
  5. In a separate pot, bring water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt, then cook lasagna noodles until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
  6. Drain noodles and arrange them on parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  7. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, beaten egg, grated Parmesan, and shredded mozzarella. Season with salt, pepper, and parsley if desired.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a layer of the meat sauce in a baking dish, place noodles on top, followed by the cheese mixture. Repeat layers, finishing with meat sauce and mozzarella on top.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 35 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  10. Allow the lasagna to rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
