  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9×5-inch loaf pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine 1½ pounds of lean ground beef with ½ cup of plain breadcrumbs soaked in ¼ cup of milk. Mix in 1 beaten egg without overmixing.
  3. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, ¼ cup of ketchup, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon of oregano, 1 teaspoon of salt, ½ teaspoon of black pepper, and ¼ teaspoon of smoked paprika. Stir until just combined.
  4. Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan and shape into a compact loaf.
  5. In a small bowl, mix remaining ketchup with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar for the glaze. Spread over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
